Job Description

Heritage Restoration, Inc’s(HRI) Restoration Shop Technician shall be a versatile, competent worker that can work on a team or independently for both in the shop and the field.  HRI shall provide the necessary skills and safety training.

HRI completes projects on a variety of traditional buildings, including buildings of local, state, and national significance.  Jobs range from small residential to large institutional buildings.   Applicants must have a desire to learn a specialized trade and craft, as well as a respect for historic material and the principals of historic preservation.

Position Description

The Restoration Shop Technician is responsible for prepping, stripping, and refinishing windows and doors in the HRI shop and in the field.  Proficiency of the necessary building element restoration skills is not necessary, only a willingness to learn, have a good attitude, work well with others, and have excellent hand and eye coordination.  The position is an integral part of the HRI team, taking direction from the Window Shop Manager and collaborating with staff and subcontractors towards successful execution of our projects.


  • Applicants shall be skills tested at the interview, to establish baseline competencies.
    • Possess basic painting preparation and brush painting skills
  • Review and Signing of HRI Employee Handbook
  • Project Review
    • Have a thorough and complete understanding of each project.
  • Job Performance
    • Compliance with directions from Supervisors.
    • Work cleanly and respectfully
  • Always be courteous and respectful.
  • Ensure proper protection and mitigation of any debris or dust.
  • Submit timesheets and receipts to Office Manager every Friday
  • Ensure project/site safety at all times.
  • Current drivers license along with transportation to and from job sites throughout RI and MA.
  • Baseline Lead blood test prior to start of employment
  • Zero tolerance for any alcohol or illicit drug use on site or in the workshops during work hours, doing so is cause for immediate termination.
  • Always wear shirts and closed toe shoes. Company t-shirts shall be provided.


  • HRI in-house Lead Safety training.
  • Professional training as necessary

Work Schedule

  • 7AM to 3:30PM, Monday through Friday
    • Schedule may be modified with Operations Manager
    • Flexibility of weekend, early, or late work

    • Review MSDS sheets
      • Equipment
        • Assist in maintaining all equipment
      • Shop Procedures
        • Follow Window Shop Policies and Procedures
      • Maintain Proper Cleaning Procedures

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay shall be commensurate with experience.
  • 5 paid vacation/sick days per year, accumulated at full time of 8.333 hours per month.
  • 10 Holidays.
